     "1987: Family of Spanish-Filipino businessman, Manuel Elizalde established the publishing company, Standard Publications, Inc., and founded the Manila Standard on February 11, 1987
1989: The Elizalde group bought out by the group of companies owned by Andres Soriano III and renamed the company Kagitingan Publications.
1991: The group of Alfonso Yuchengco, another prominent businessman, bought into and spun off the publishing company. It was incorporated as Kamahalan Publishing Corporation, and Kagitingan Publications was renamed Kagitingan Printing Press, Inc. which printed the Manila Standard.
1997: Enrique Razon Jr., Chairman and President of the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) acquired the shares of the Yuchengcos and bought out the Soriano group to become the sole owner of Kamahalan Publishing Corporation and Kagitingan Printing Press, Inc.
2005: On March 6th, Manila Standard merged with another newspaper, Today, and become Manila Standard Today or MST.
2010: The Razon group sold its interest in MST to the Romualdez family.
2014: MST Management Inc. was hired in Q3 by the Romualdezes to spearhead and manage the ?evolution? of MST from a broadsheet newspaper to a more compact, visually-rich tallboy format, with interactive technologies. Manila Standard was re-launched and renamed The New Standard in November to reflect the changes in the print platform, both in lay-out and content delivery.
2015: In February, The New Standard was formally launched and renamed The Standard. And on April 16th, Kamahalan Publishing Corporation was dissolved to become Philippine Manila Standard Publishing Inc. the current Publishing company of The Standard.
Now into its 28th year, The Standard continues to be a most trusted and highly regarded news and information source in the Philippines."
