Profile:
There are many enchanting destinations in the Philippines but only few can offer a distinct island experience. Camiguin, the second smallest island district in the country, is one of those gems.
Flanked by volcanoes, verdant farmlands and undisturbed black and white sand beaches, the tiny island could easily be mistaken for other Pacific islets such as Fiji or Hawaii— except it is located 10 kilometers off the coast of Northern Mindanao. Despite being minuscule in scale, this pear-shaped island is home to the most number of volcanoes per square kilometer in the world. Camiguin is thus known as the island borne of fire.
A deep alluring mystery draws adventurers, lovers, mystics and modern day gypsies to this cinder cone island in the South. Get your adrenaline pumping from our wide range of water activities and outdoor exploits, and experience beach camping like never before at YSLA Beach Camp and Eco Resort.
The locals lovingly say that Camiguin means: “come again.” For Ed and Marcia, YSLA’s endearing owners, they came back again and again, until finally, they stayed.
The married couple was fond of exploring beautiful beaches, but when they saw a newspaper article featuring a Camiguin resort, they were moved by wanderlust. They booked their flights and arrived in Mambajao, the provincial capital, just a week later.
They took in all of the exhilarating experiences that Camiguin offered. They swam, they snorkeled, and they went diving, sailing and fishing. They went on treks, discovered waterfalls, bathed in natural springs, and set up camp on a black sand beach that glimmered with the night sky. This is the same action-packed itinerary they wish to share with all of their guests.
Today, the adventure-seeking duo has found a new way to get their hands dirty and their feet wet. They remain involved in the development and operations of the resort; and they are the first to encourage guests to explore Camiguin’s exciting trails.
