Sound Publishing Corporation first started as a small convenient store at 611 P. Paterno Cor. Sales St. Sta. Cruz, Manila in 1978, with a trade name Barter House Corporation. The main line of business is buying and selling of musical instruments and publication of music books in support to Yamaha School of Music courses and for the Yamaha musical instruments. The demand for these books grew tremendously which encouraged the expansion of distribution to the outside market aside from the Yamaha School of Music Phils. and Yupangco Music Corporation. In the year 1984 from Barter House it became Sound Publishing Corporation, with a new office address at 2nd Flr. G.A. Yupangco Bldg., 339 Gil Puyat Avenue Makati City.
