The decade of the 1970s signaled the rapid growth and boom of the furniture industry in the Philippines. This is also the decade where the Philippines was regarded worldwide as one of the major sources and maker of elegant furnishings in Asia. The challenge to harness the craftsmanship of the Filipinos and focus them on consistent high quality customized works-of-art was daunting, and yet, this group of businessmen stood up to take the challenge. So on a warm and busy September day of the year 1977, in the bustling town of San Juan in Metro Manila, SCT Furnishing Corporation was formed, dedicated primarily to address the marketâs requirement for superior furniture made of indigenous Philippine materials.
