As early as 1976, Pioneer Hi-Bred Philippines, Inc. began its operations as Pioneer Overseas Corporation. During this period, the company was primarily focused on research activities to develop products adaptable to local growing conditions. It came out with the first locally-developed hybrid corn variety in 1981.
