The Philippine IATA Agents Travel Association, Inc. or PIATA, was founded in February 21, 1985 by a group of pioneering IATA travel agents whose vision was to form an IATA travel agents association that would be responsive to the needs of its members and responsible to the public that it serves.PIATA's first and foremost aim is to promote cordial relations and encourage professionalism among IATA appointed travel agents in the Philippines by actively participating in the formulation, interpretation and dissemination of IATA rules or procedures, and promoting compliance to such rules and procedures.To facilitate the achievement of such purpose, the PIATA Board created committees and special support services groups. There are nine (9) PIATA committees. The PUBLICITY Committee handles public relations and image building for PIATA, and is responsible for publishing a monthly newspaper circulated to all members.
