Netopia was founded by two computer techies in 1996. It began as a private gaming room where friends could pit their eye-hand coordination skills against each other. The original Katipunan branch opened its doors to the public in January 1997. By sheer word of mouth, Netopia effortlessly attracted a wave of loyal and happy customers. Netopia is a network of owned and franchised retail outlets engaged in computer and networked computer leasing, shared Internet access, desktop publishing services, ePIN dispensing and other value-added services. Netopiaâs brand has a national footprint and serves up to 20,000 customers daily.
The IPVI group recognised early on that it was time to introduce a new business model to meet customer demands. Customer research confirmed the demand for food and beverages to be served inside the stores and the IPVI group grabbed the opportunity of âcoffeeâ.
In addition to now operating Highlands Coffee as a standalone brand, it now features
the new business model for Netopiaâ âhybrid storesââ Netopia serving Highlands Coffee .
IPVI is now operating 51 company-owned Netopia icafes, one of which is a âhybridâ store.
